Some people stumble into Bubble by accident, some by necessity, and some—like today’s Spotlight guest—by sheer curiosity and a drive to build cool things. Meet Shon, a full-stack developer turned no-code enthusiast who ditched traditional coding in favor of Bubble’s speed and flexibility. From AI-powered automation tools to structured learning platforms, they’re all about pushing Bubble to its limits and helping others do the same.
Let’s dive into their story, their projects, and what keeps them excited about the future of no-code!
1. Tell us a bit more about yourself – what’s your background and how did you discover Bubble.io?
My journey into tech started in 2022 when I began working as a full-stack developer, diving deep into coding and software development. While I enjoyed the technical challenges, I quickly realized that traditional development was often slow and required a lot of repetitive work. That’s when I discovered Bubble and the no-code ecosystem. The idea of building full-scale applications without writing thousands of lines of code fascinated me, and I immediately saw its potential.
Over time, I transitioned from traditional development to no-code, focusing entirely on Bubble development. Today, I help startups and entrepreneurs turn their ideas into fully functional apps, combining the best of no-code efficiency with a developer’s problem-solving mindset.
2. Are you currently building an app with Bubble? If so, tell us about it! What other projects have you already built?
Yes! I’m currently building The Bubble Playbook, a structured learning experience designed to help new Bubble developers learn by building real-world apps. The goal is to make learning Bubble engaging, practical, and community-driven, ensuring that learners don’t just follow tutorials but actually build projects with real-world applications.
Some of the projects I’ve already built include:
•Spa Management App – A custom platform for spa and wellness businesses to manage appointments, client records, and payments. This was a fully functional business tool that streamlined operations for spa owners.
•Apptor.AI – A no-code AI-powered automation tool that helps businesses streamline workflows and optimize operations using AI. This project showcased the power of integrating AI into no-code platforms like Bubble.
•SongSensei – A music education platform designed to help users learn and practice musical skills interactively, providing structured lessons and personalized feedback.

3. What helped you the most while learning to build with Bubble?
•Building real projects – Instead of just watching tutorials, I built actual apps from the start, which helped me grasp databases, workflows, and UI/UX principles much faster.
•Community engagement – The Bubble forum and YouTube community played a huge role in my learning. Connecting with other developers helped me solve complex challenges.
•Reverse-engineering templates – Studying how existing Bubble apps were structured helped me understand best practices and advanced workflows.
•Lachlan’s Freelancing Masterclass – This was a game-changer for me, especially in handling my first client and setting up proper project workflows. It helped me streamline communication, set clear expectations, and navigate the business side of freelancing, which is just as important as technical skills. Beyond that, I also met an amazing fellow Lachlan, and the relationship we built has been incredibly valuable on my journey.
4. What are you most excited about the future of Bubble or no-code development in general?
I’m excited about how no-code is breaking down barriers and making app development accessible to more people. A few things that stand out to me:
•The rise of no-code entrepreneurship – More people are launching businesses without technical backgrounds, and Bubble is at the forefront of this movement.
•The evolution of Bubble’s capabilities – As Bubble continues to improve performance, introduce AI-assisted development, and expand integrations, the gap between traditional and no-code development keeps shrinking.
•The demand for no-code developers – Businesses are realizing the power of no-code, and the demand for Bubble experts is growing rapidly.
